It’s been a little while since my sister Nichole I were invited to Atlantic City to show the Flights of Fancy fashion collection, and I just remembered that I never wrote a post about it! It was such a fun trip that it deserves a mention. I met so many cool people at Atlantic City Fashion Week, and I’d love to go back sometime with a new collection.
The Flights of Fancy fashion collection has 10 outfits, each inspired by something (real or imagined) that can fly. There is a dragonfly, dragon, flamingo, griffin, forest fairy, sparrow, peacock, butterfly, swan queen, and finally a Phoenix. If you’re into fashion and want to see how some of the designs were made, I have made tutorials for the Forest Fairy and Dragon.

My sister Nichole is wearing my raven dress as a bonus 11th look. She designed the peacock and dragonfly outfits, as well as the flamingo’s fascinator. The other looks were my creations.
Here are a few backstage pictures (apologies for the funky lighting). And check out my hairstyle! It’s by Tina Gillam, the director of hair for Atlantic City Fashion Week and owner of Tina’s Hair Salon. Tina made my hair look like a bouquet of roses, and I love it so much!
The fashion show was being held right near the boardwalk, and it was fun to be right in the middle of such an iconic spot. The boardwalk was super interesting, and there were plenty of great spots to eat, take photos, head down to the beach, and take in the view.
I had some time to walk around on the beach, and I picked up some sand to use in sand art projects. The seagulls were hilarious as always (I think God made seagulls for comic relief).
The view from the hotel room was so pretty, too! The hotel had a nice style and charm to it, with lots of wrought iron lanterns and stained glass in the lobby. It was designed like an old-world New Orleans street, and being there was a little bit like stepping into another era.
I also enjoyed peeking into the Ripley’s Believe it or Not museum, and maybe in the future I’ll have time to stop in and try out the laser maze. But the scrap art sculptures in the lobby were awesome!
I also enjoyed finding a lot of the places I knew from the board game Monopoly. I think I even parked on Park Place, lol. Virginia Avenue has always been my favorite, because I grew up in Virginia, and as a kid my favorite color was purple.
On the way out, we stopped to climb Absecon Lighthouse, which was amazing. There were church bells going off from a nearby cathedral as we came out on the walkway at the top. So magical!
I’d love to go back someday with a new collection when I have the time. All in all, it was a great trip! And the Flights of Fancy fashion collection was off to its next stop!
