About Me

Hello, and welcome to my blog! My name is Jessie, but sometimes I go by SnazzyBot on the web. I’m an artist and fashion designer who has dreams of helping other people bring their designs to life. When I have extra time, I’m also a contributor to We Like Sewing magazine.

I started sewing when I was about 12 years old. My mom showed me how to use her vintage sewing machine, and I used it so much that I eventually ran it into the ground. I never used a paper pattern to sew anything. I made patterns from ideas I had in my head, drafting them myself, or I sometimes traced ready-to-wear clothes I already owned and used them as a jumping-off point to make something else.

Fast forward to now, and I still love vintage sewing machines (my main machine is a Kenmore 158.1914 named Kenny) and I still don’t use patterns. Creating is something I really enjoy, and you’ll find out as you look around my blog that I don’t just stick with one particular medium or method. I sew, I paint, I sculpt, I repair, I burn fabric to find out what it’s made of, and I’m constantly finding ways to… um, “upgrade” my vintage sewing machines.

Meeting Jesus is the best thing that ever happened to me. If you give Him your heart, I promise that it could not be in better hands.

I am a mermaid. I love water in all its forms. I’m a little bit steampunk, too. I like incongruity in fashion, like sequins with camouflage. I believe there is beauty everywhere, but sometimes we aren’t looking hard enough. I’m kind of a mess sometimes; I manage to get paint in my hair even when I put it in an updo. But that’s okay, because some of my favorite things start out as messes and paint in my hair.

I’ve put my tutorials and posts into categories at the top of the page, to make everything easier to find. Look around, and feel free to drop a comment if you have any questions, or you can contact me. You can also subscribe to my email list if you want to be notified when I release free patterns, DIY tutorials, and upcycled art.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy your visit. ~ Jessie
